Moss & The Rocks

Public Nuisance were a Sacramento, California band in the early 60s. Their roots were in the Jaguars, who changed their name to Moss & the Rocks. Under that moniker, they recorded a folk-rock-flavored garage single, "There She Goes"/"Please Come Back," for the small local Ikon label. Later that year, they re-recorded both tunes for a single on Chattahoochee. Both 45s are very rare and by 1967, they had changed their name to Public Nuisance and gone in more psychedelic directions without forsaking their garage energy. Public Nuisance opened for acts such as the Doors, Buffalo Springfield, Sonny & Cher, and the Grateful Dead and did some unreleased recordings at Fantasy in San Francisco. However, they didn't have a record deal until some demos in late 1968 helped get them a contract with Equinox, run by noted Hollywood producer Terry Melcher (who had worked with the Byrds and Paul Revere & the Raiders). At the end of 1968 and the beginning of 1969, they recorded an album's worth of songs, but nothing was ever released, on Equinox or elsewhere. Public Nuisance disbanded around 1970. The unreleased 1968-1969 sessions sound almost anachronistically unpolished by the standards of the day's psychedelic acts, and perhaps none of these would have been released if the band had been granted a chance to officially issue an album. However, in 2002, they were retrieved and issued by Frantic Records on a well-packaged archival release that will be of interest to intense fans of the late-'60s garage/psychedelic sound and is more diverse and eclectic than many other reissues of such bands.

Since the release by Frantic Records is out-of-print for quite some time, Third Man Records presents “Gotta Survive” with new artwork and mastered directly from the original two-track analog masters by Ron McMaster (the band’s drummer!) at Capitol Mastering in Hollywood, CA. Comes with MP3 download code for the entire album.

Τα μέλη των Allah-Las γνωρίστηκαν ενώ δούλευαν σε ένα από τα μεγαλύτερα δισκάδικα του Los Angeles. 
Σχηματίστηκαν στα τέλη του 2008 και έβγαλαν το πρώτο τους single "Catamaran" / "Long Journey" τον Απρίλη του 2011 στην Innovative Leisure. 
Ακολούθησε η κυκλοφορία ενός ακόμη επτάιντσου "Tell Me What's On Your Mind"/"Sacred Sands", στην ίδια εταιρεία. Κάπου εκεί άρχισα κι εγώ να ασχολούμαι μαζί τους κατόπιν συστάσεων ενός φίλου (thanks Αρη :-) ).

Στις 18 Σεπτέμβρη, κυκλοφόρησε και το ομότιτλο LP τους στην ίδια δισκογραφική. 




Αντε να δω πότε θα φτάσει η παραγγελία μου με το δίσκο και το δεύτερο single... Για το πρώτο... Οποιος πρόλαβε, πρόλαβε !!!

The Days Of Wine And Roses....

Τέτοιες ημέρες και τριάντα χρόνια πίσω οι Dream Syndicate βρίσκονταν στο Los Angeles και συγκεκριμένα στο Quad Teck Studio τελειώνοντας την ηχογράφηση του πρώτου full length δίσκου τους, με τίτλο "The Days Of wine And Roses" με τον Chris D. (The Flesh Eaters/The Divine Horsemen) στην κονσόλα. Ο τίτλος του δίσκου είναι από το ποίημα "Vitae Summa Brevis" του Ernest Dowson.

Ο δίσκος κυκλοφόρησε στις 28 Οκτωβρίου 1982 στην Slash Records του Chris D. Τα μέλη εκείνη την περίοδο ήταν: Steve Wynn, Karl Precoda, Kendra Smith και Dennis Duck. Με αφορμή τα τριάντα χρόνια από την κυκλοφορία του αλμπουμ, οι Dream Syndicate ξαναβρέθηκαν για να δώσουν τέσσερεις συναυλίες στην Ισπανία (Βαρκελώνη, Βαλένθια, Μαδρίτη και Μπιλμπάο). Σύνθεση? Steve Wynn, Dennis Duck, o Mark Walton στο μπάσο και ο Jason Victor κιθάρα (ο οποίος παίζει και στη τωρινή μπάντα του Wynn τους Miracle Three) Από τη συναυλία που έδωσαν στη Βαλένθια στις 22/9, το "Boston" που βέβαια δεν βρίσκεται στο "The Days of Wine & Roses" ;-)

Close To Distance

Guts Pie Earshot emerged in 1993 from the band "Flowerhouse", a then 5-man D.I.Y./Punk/HC-influenced band, successful in the "scene" with cello, keyboards, bass, vocals and drums.
From 1997 various members drifted away from the band and were not replaced - so as not to lose the original signature of the sound that had developed over the years.

The Watermelon Men

Απλά επειδή "ζήλεψα" το post του ranxerox στον Αιρε&σία ....

 The Watermelon Men were a great Swedish band. They put out a record, "Past, Present, and Future" in 1985. The album appeared on several 'Best of' lists for 1985 in Sweden. In 1986 they released a second album called "Wildflowers" with the production of Clive Gregson.Only the last "Moving Targets" were released as a cd.

Watermelon Men:
Erik Illes (vocals, guitar) / Johan Lundberg (guitar) / Imre von Polgar (guitar) / Hans Sacklén (bass) / Erik Westin (drums) / Magnus Ågren (keyboards) / Jonas Rehn (keyboards) / Ola Jameson (drums)

Sadly Imre von Polgar, one of two great guitarplayers in the band died in the tsunami-disaster at Khao Lak. The group that split in 1994 reunited in 2006 for one last performance in memory of Imre.

The Ultraviolets

From Lawrence, Kansas. They started back in the late 80's, recorded one LP on Music Maniac in 1990 and soon after that changed their name into "The Psychoviolets".
